Tour DoonHame - Anti Doping Policy
Our Stance on Doping in Sport
Wallacehill Events, organisers of the Tour DoonHame, are opposed to any form of cheating in sport. We are particularly opposed to doping in sport and take the view that a performance achieved by a competitor using a banned substance or method is worthless.
We are therefore, unequivocally opposed, on ethical and medical grounds, to the practice of doping in sport and fully support the the World Anti Doping Code.
Cycling is no worse than many other sports with respect to doping. However, the governing bodies of cycle sport - tired of seeing the sport's reputation tarnished by doping - have resolved to target those who seek to defraud their fellow competitors by doping. The sport is making publicly visible progress in detecting doping cheats. We look forward to a time when 'dopers' finally get the message that, in the end, there is no hiding place.
Our Anti Doping Policy:-
-
The organisers of the Tour DoonHame expect the event's participants to uphold the values of fair play, mutual respect and sportmanship. Success in the race should come as a result of hard work, natural athletic ability and effective tactics. Our event sponsors, partners, helpers and spectators deserve nothing less.
-
Any competitor who uses prohibited substances or methods is not welcome at the Tour DoonHame.
- Any individual involved in the supply or administration of prohibited substances or methods is not
welcome at the Tour DoonHame.
-
If we, the event organisers, find credible evidence, or are presented with credible evidence, that any competitor in the Tour DoonHame has used prohibited substances or methods we will pass that evidence to the relevant authorities.
-
If we, the event organisers, find credible evidence, or are presented with credible evidence, that any individual has supplied or administered prohibited substances or methods to a competitor participating in the Tour DoonHame we will pass that evidence to the relevant authorities.
Anti Doping Controls at Our Events
From its inception (formerly as the Girvan Cycle Race) the Tour DoonHame has been subject to frequent anti doping controls with the majority of editions of the event having been subject to controls. The organisers of the race welcome these controls and co-operate fully and willingly with those who have responsibility for carrying them out.
The results of all anti doping controls carried out at the Girvan Cycle Race over its forty year history, were negative. We are proud of this record which, by and large, reflects the position of cycle sport in the UK. We are determined to continue this record with the Tour DoonHame and will give our full and willing co-operation and support to those who are charged with fighting doping in our sport.
