The Tour DoonHame is organised by Wallacehill Events, the event organisation section of Wallacehill Cycling Club. The Race Organiser designate for the Tour DoonHame is Ian Sinclair who heads the organisational team of unpaid volunteers.
Event Format:
The Tour DoonHame is a multi-stage cycle road race which is a counting event in British Cycling's Premier Calendar Elite Road Racing Series for elite, first and second category race licence holders. Governance:
The race is organised in accordance with the Road Traffic Acts 'The Cycle Racing on Highways (Scotland) Regulations 1960' and 'Cycle Racing on Highways (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1996'. The race is held under the rules and technical regulations of Scottish Cycling, British Cycling and the Union Cycliste Internationale (International Cycling Union).
Funding:
The race is run on a not-for-profit basis funded primarily by sponsorship and patronage. First held in 1968, and previously run as the Girvan Cycle Race, the event is a long-standing fixture on the UK sporting calendar and brings proven economic benefits to the local area.
Staffing:
The event is staffed by volunteer race officials, the majority of whom are unpaid, and numerous supporting organisations.
Senior race officials are appointed to the event by British Cycling. Event Support staff and facilities are also provided by British Cycling and Scottish Cycling.
